The HELA Research Cooperative announces its first funding round
The HELA Research Cooperative, the research arm of HELA Initiative, has opened its first funding call for applications.
Focused on safe listening at music venues and events, this call aims to support innovative, multidisciplinary feasibility studies, ideally serving as a springboard for future larger-scale projects, that address gaps in knowledge relating to safe listening at music venues and events.
Safe, sustainable sound is a shared responsibility and as such, the HELA Research Cooperative is championing a collaborative approach across venues, researchers and industry partners. The Research Cooperative can assist in making introductions if needed.
In a departure from the usual full paper application,. those interested will be asked to submit a brief expression of interest form, which will be promptly reviewed. Successful submissions will be invited to a two-day workshop in July 2026, to be held in Derby, UK, with hybrid attendance available, if necessary Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered, within reason.
The workshop will serve to fully develop project proposals, culminating in a pitch to members of the HELA Research Board. Funding decisions in principle will be made at the conclusion of the workshop, which will be finalised after receipt of a formal application in September. The intention is for all projects invited to the workshop to be funded.
